Disassembly and reassembly of the Luftwaffe double barrels flare gun
First of all, I would like to warmly thank a very kind collector, Nico, who took the time to photograph and comment the disassembly of this model, step by step.:
First of all, check that the flare gun is not loaded and doesn't contain any cartridge. Check that the hammer is not armed.Start first with the grips disassembly. Use a split nut screwdriver. The one on the pic is an homemade one.
Once the grips are set appart, proceed with the main axis disassembly. Use the appropriate pin punch.
However,
be careful about the opening spring. Once it has slipped under the
axis, it will stick out in the hole. Proceed in finishing the extraction
with a smaller pin punch.
Notice the protrusion in the middle of the spring and it's channel on the main axis. When reassembling, be careful about setting them the right way.
Then, drive away both the axis located on the back of the frame near the opening latch.
Once this done, you can extract the striking spring along with the hammer. Notice these part comes off through the grip.
Then, take appart the sear.
This one is jointed with the trigger spring. You need to depress this
spring in order to be able to remove it.
On this picture can be seen the tensed spring in its housing.
Move the spring end out of its housing using a pointy and narrow tool. I used a knife to do so.
On this pic, the depressed spring can be seen on the right.
Sear and spring assembly. This part is also stripped away through the handle.
The last operation is to remove the firing pin. With a flat screwdriver push the firing pin down its housing then turn it 1/4 round.
While depressed, the assembly simply falls appart from the frame.
And
here's the dismantled set. You can now offer a good deslagging to your
favorite Leuchtpistole that will live a long time thanks to your good
care!
The rest of the parts (opening push button, trigger) are
stamped. It is therefore not possible to continue the disassembly
without damaging the LP.Leuchtpistole.
Reassembly is done in reverse without
special trouble. Still the reassembly of the barrel / extractor / spring is
one of these "3 handed operations"…
You'll have to play with
the parts a little to put them back together. Take it easy and do not
force the parts together. Everything should get back in place smoothly.
